Can I close my demat account while keeping my trading account open?

No, you cannot close your demat account without closing your trading account. This restriction exists for the following reasons:

  • Equity intraday positions have to be settled to your demat account if they are not squared off.
  • All stock F&O contracts are settled physically to your demat account.
